The Telangana State Cabinet is scheduled to convene on Thursday under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to deliberate on a range of critical issues, including the ongoing RTC employees' strike, the Kaleshwaram project, and the takeover of the Metro rail project.
The cabinet meeting comes in the wake of the High Court's verdict on the PC Ghosh Commission report concerning the Kaleshwaram project and the persistent RTC strike. Discussions are expected to focus on finding resolutions to the RTC employees' demands and addressing the implications of the court's decision.
Significant decisions are anticipated regarding the Metro rail project's takeover, which is slated for completion by April 30. The government is planning to secure a loan of ₹13,000 crore to settle outstanding dues to L&T and other financial obligations, with Indian Railway Finance Corporation reportedly showing interest in providing the loan.
The implementation of the Indiramma Family Insurance Scheme, announced for over 1.15 crore families and planned for launch on June 2, will also be a key agenda item. The cabinet is expected to finalize the scheme's operational guidelines. Furthermore, the long-pending elections for ZPTCs, MPTCs, and GHMC are likely to be discussed, with possibilities of holding them without impeding the census process.
The cabinet will also review the 'Prajapalana-Pragathi Pranali' program and discuss special initiatives planned for June 2. Other topics on the agenda include the proposal of Kodandaram and Azharuddin as MLC candidates under the Governor's quota, compensation for farmers affected by unseasonal rains, and matters related to paddy procurement and the caste survey (C-PEC).
